Casillas: thank you, madre maria, I do not play for Argentina - or France
We know that FIFA World Cup 2010′s Best Player is not Ronaldo or Rooney, or anyone even remotely connected with France. It’s not Messi, either, who looked good against weaker teams but folded against the Germans. It’s not Robinho, who played well against the Dutch, or Kaka, who did not. So who is it so far?
Some BPITW voting swings toward Bastian Schweinsteiger (who if not the Best Player in the World is absolutely the Best-Named Player in the World)…and Spanish keeper Iker Casillas, whose ripping save on Paraguay’s Cardozo kept his team from a boarding a long, silent early flight back to Madrid.

David Villa – most goals + best player. I can’t believe the German’s have won the World Cup with two games to spare. This is unprecedented.
