Balotelli happy to be back to Italian food and weather – but we’ll see about the soccer

The food and weather of Italy that Balotelli so loves

The food and weather of Italy that Balotelli so loves

So Balo is back in the bosom. Back to the great food and weather of Italia. Good for him. He’s so right about Italy. Italy has it all.

Well almost.

They once had the best soccer league in the world. Serie A. That’s where all the best players played.

No more.

I still love Italian football. They have the correct idea of the game as far as I’m concerned. But they no longer have the best. Maybe Balo can help a bit with that – but he can’t make up for a crumbling infrastructure and the absence of big money.

And we know where all of the big money is – England. That’s right.

Shame about the weather and the food – but they’ve still got the best league in the world – according to Balo.

Now while the recent FIFA XI consisted entirely of La Liga players and an argument could be made for that league being the best, Balo says it’s the Barclays Prem:

“To be honest the Premier League is an amazing league and I think it is the best. The crowd and the pitch … it’s an amazing league. I don’t know in the future if I could come back.” (ESPNFC)

Eat your heart out Italy. You could have the Barclays. But then you’d have to eat badly in a really grim setting.

I’d take Italy – with second- or fifth- or eleventh-rate soccer – over England any day. Food, wine, weather, Fellini, Dante… la dolce vita. Not a difficult choice.
