Video: Kirani James runs 43.96 to win 400m in Paris

Another epic battle between the two best 400m runners in the world: Grenadian Kirani James and rival LaShawn Merritt of the US.

James here runs 2013’s first sub-44 400m, with Merritt right on his shoulder. It looks like James, running in lane 4 to Merritt’s lane 5, has the race won in the first 200m – he’s able to see Merritt all the way and judge his own pace accordingly. But LaShawn has lots left in the tank, and the final 50m is thrilling, with James just hanging on for the win.

Best Player predicts both these boys going mid-43 in Moscow.
