Mo Farah is one of the greatest distance runners in history, possibly the best athlete Great Britain has ever produced, and certainly the dominant figure in distance running today. He is the Olympic champion at 5,000m and 10,000m and the reigning world champion at the same distances. In addition, Farah is the fastest European at 1,500m – and it’s this flat-out speed that has allowed him to consistently defeat African rivals with better personal-best times than his own. Farah is a brilliant tactician who controls the pace of races from near the front of the pack, then takes the lead with one or two laps left and simply outraces everyone else in the field.
