2013 year-end ATP rankings: Nadal is #1

Rafa is world #1 for 2013

Rafael Nadal overtook the seemingly invincible Novak Djokovic to regain the ATP world #1 ranking for the 3rd time in his career.

Many had thought the Spaniard’s best days were behind him as he spent parts of 2011 and 2012 struggling with injuries as Djokovic held top spot and Nadal’s former rival, Roger Federer, gradually sank out of the top 5.

But a refreshed Nadal had a fantastic spring and summer of this year and has been rewarded with the coveted #1 status, just ahead of Djokovic – and 7,000 points clear of the rest of the pack.
