Cesc Fabregas

44th minute. The highlight in the sequence that leads to the third goal is Messi’s back-heel to Dani Alves – who crosses the ball into the box for a Fabregas finish.

Nice for Fabregas. Who said that he wouldn’t get much time at Barca when he left Arsenal? Where is that talk now?

What a line-up of goals: Messi > Xavi > Fabregas: all three players developed in the Barca academy.

Xavi: “It is improving my game to have Cesc here. He comes near to get the ball, he gives us penetration. And in a way we interchange so that if it’s not him it’s me. And the opposite as well. But Cesc would improve anyone’s game. With his position on the pitch he’s a player who usually gets forward but sometimes he likes to get back to pickup the ball. The other day when I scored against Osasuna, he dropped back and I got further forward. Football is a game about positioning and when I see where Cesc is I’ll go to the other side…It’s a question of covering positions that’s all.”

People have been talking about the Messi-Fabregas/Fabregas-Messi phenomenon ever since Cesc re-joined Barca from Arsenal this summer.

That wonderful Fabregas goal vs Valencia is not the first goal the two players have combined on in Cesc’s short time in a Barca jersey.

And it won’t be the last.

Who says Cesc can’t replace Xavi?

And what about that pass from Messi? We know the man can score but he makes plays too. He assisted on both of Barca’s goals vs Valencia.

And nobody knows about that passing and play-making ability better than Cesc who grew up with Messi at Barcelona’s La Masia academy. Word is that Messi and Fabregas became a dynamic duo long ago, only to have Cesc kidnapped by Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger.

Who says he can’t take Xavi’s spot?

I’m tired of hearing this.

Sure he can.

He’ll do it a bit differently. He’ll do it with his own signature. But he will do it.

He is that good. And he actually is > worth more now than when Barca bought him from Arsenal.

Cesc (along with Pique) is the key to Barca continuing it’s dynasty after Xavi (and Puyol) finally start to show their age.

There you go. Busquets confirms it @ 1:02 of the video: Fabregas is one of the best midfielders around. Couldn’t believe how many people doubted that Cesc wouldn’t play much in the Barca side. He is just as good as the other stars there and will play more and more, establishing himself in the 11. Believe it. A bargain purchase from Arsenal.
