Donovan Clingan declares for NBA Draft

UConn’s 7’2″ sophmore centre Donovan Clingan is cashing in his chips after winning two consecutive NCAA men’s basketball national championships.

And he’s going to roll the dice and max out on his stature by declaring for the NBA draft while he is at peak popularity.

Smart move. Even with his height, collegiate achievements, and a projected mid-first-round selection, there is no guarantee he will have any kind of NBA career.

There was no upside to him excelling in college ball for another year.

Here’s what Clingan had to say about his decision:

“First and foremost, BACK TO BACK national championships is legendary! These past two years have exceeded all my dreams and expectations. I will be forever grateful for the memories created with all my brothers, and I’ll cherish every moment forever!

“With that being said, I’ll be pursuing the lifelong dream of mine to play in the NBA and will be entering my name in the 2024 NBA Draft!!” (Athletic)
