The current labour woes in the NHL are doing wonders for Rielly’s development. If the NHL were in session right now, and the Leafs were mired near the bottom of the standings (really?!), it would be sooner than later that Burkie & Carlyle would be on the line to Moose Jaw and Rielly on a plane to Hogtown.
Since the Leafs have a long-standing habit of spoiling draft picks with too much big-league exposure and pressure too soon, better that Rielly has some extra time to hone his craft with rushes like this before being asked to do it in the NHL against Philadelphia.
