Best Player, Worst Hair #5 – Billie Jean King

Thanks for the trophy - but could you please get that dead rodent off my head?

Bad hair isn’t always the domain of great male athletes. Over the years, many women have done their damndest to mix outstanding performance with outstandingly grim grooming…like 1970s tennis icon Billie Jean King.

Billie Jean, along with sisters-in-sad-style Margaret Court and Martina Navratilova, dominated women’s tennis in that decade the way Roger, Rafa, and now Djoko rule the men’s game today. Despite BJ’s on-court prowess, though – and her masterful media manipulation as she advocated for women’s causes throughout her long career – she never really had what you’d call a successful trip to the salon.

Even by the woeful standards of the 70s, Billie Jean King’s hair was a shambles. She can be thankful, though, that one of her most celebrated tennis victories came at the expense of a player with even worse hair than hers – Bobby Riggs.

  1. That’s pretty bad. Those bangs of Billie’sn are high and cut straight and her whole mop looks like it’s just sitting on top of her head like a wig. Could she have been wearing a wig? #5 was is a good addition to this Hall of Shame but I’ve got to say that for now my vote for the Best Player Worst Hair Award would have to go to #2 Jaromir Jagr. Jagr was the best player in the game for a long time and he really did for me have the absolute worst hair.

You really make it seem so easy together with your presentation but I in finding this matter to be really something which I think I might never understand.
It seems too complex and extremely huge for me. I am having a look ahead to
your subsequent post, I’ll try to get the dangle of it!
