Here’s 14-year-old Joseph Maxwell winning 2012’s Ontario Championships in the Royal Canadian Legion midget division – while breaking age-group records in the process. He did the same at the nationals in Prince Edward Island and is very focused on his goal of reaching the Olympics.
So focused, in fact that he uses a cyber-coach – former NCAA shot and discus conference champ Matt Ellis. Joseph, who lives on remote Manitoulin Island, films and uploads his practice sessions regularly. Ellis watches and returns the videos with his detailed comments…all for a price that Joseph and his family are happy to pay if it brings the dream a little bit closer.
